A Dream Wedding?
A Dream Wedding
Nearly every little girl dreams of her fairy-tale romance. She goes through life’s hardships then meets her Prince Charming, they get married and live happily ever after. So it’s no surprise that a lot of brides want a Big Wedding. Although they are not cheap, they are increasingly popular with brides wanting to be the centre of attention on their big day. But why big weddings? In this article we look at the different reasons people may choose a big wedding or a smaller more intimate wedding.
Why have a big wedding?
One of the main reasons couples will choose to have a big wedding is to share the experience with those they care about. Then not only is it an experience for you and your immediate family and friends; you can invite all the cousins and their partners and have everyone’s children there. Inviting the people that really matter in yours and your partner’s life will create wonderful memories.
Some people just want a big wedding! That’s as a good enough reason as any. Why not? It’s your day! Don’t be pushed into having a wedding that isn’t what you want by your parents or fiancé. During the wedding planning process, it is not unusual for other people to try to take over, so be sure that you get the wedding that you want.
A large wedding with all the extras will create the most amazing, memorable day. Amazing transport (Horse drawn carriage, Classic cars), an incredible dress, flowers and a venue that leaves your guests in awe; won’t just leave you with wonderful memories but stunning photos as well. Every bride wants to have the most unbelievable day, and a big wedding will certainly make you feel special. So if that’s what you´re after there really is no alternative to a big wedding!
When we get married we all hope that we will only get married once. A big, beautiful wedding is something that you are unlikely to get to do again. Second weddings, are usually a much more low-key affair. So when you get married for the first (and *fingers crossed* only) time, it’s an opportunity to go big, pull out all the stops and really get what you want.
If you have a big enough budget, then a large wedding is a fantastic opportunity to see relatives that come from further afield. You can also invite all your distant relatives, friends and colleagues, and not worry about leaving anyone out.
Last but certainly not least think of the GIFTS! It may be shallow but it is a massive perk to having a big wedding.
Everyone has a differing view on what is the ‘ideal wedding’. While some like it big, in contrast some prefer a more intimate day, and others would prefer to just elope and avoid the stress of planning a wedding all together!
Why to avoid the big wedding?
Here’s a few reasons why people may opt for a smaller wedding:
Sometimes a wedding can cause frictions in families that can drive family members apart. If the situation runs the risk of becoming oppressing and stressful for you, then a smaller wedding will provide relief. Weddings should bring families together not drive them apart. Family feuds are one of the main reasons couples elope.
Perhaps your parents’ ideas do not coincide with yours. That doesn’t mean that you have to have big wedding, because mum or dad want one. It’s your wedding, not theirs. If you’ve always dreamed of a small, intimate wedding, then make your dream come true. There’s a kind of romance with a small wedding so why not whisk your family and friends to a destination straight from a storybook? Make a small, magical and romantic event.
Some people are not fans of big crowds and that’s ok. The prospect of a big crowd can be a daunting thought and can leave you feeling upset. A wedding is an exciting and nerve-racking time already adding a big crowd into the mix is going to make you feel overwhelmed. If you feel nervous in front of a big crowd, consider having a smaller wedding.
It’s no secret that big events cost a lot of money. You might have big dreams and fantasies, but when it comes to costs, you should be sensible. Plenty of couples prefer to invest the money they save on a wedding on other projects, such as a home or holidays. This need not be a problem if you don’t have a big budget for an extravagant wedding, because having a smaller, but high grade one works just as well.
A big wedding not only requires plenty of money, but it takes a lot of time and planning. If you are busy you may not have time to put aside to plan a big wedding. That’s when a small, beautiful and intimate wedding can be your saving grace. Try to value the quality, but not quantity.
