This course is designed for those seeking to begin a career in social care or existing carers who wish to achieve a formal qualification in the care sector. Through this qualification you will learn the basic concepts of social care work and help to prepare for a career working with vulnerable people. Being a knowledge only qualification, students are able to study this course online to fit in around home life.
This qualification is made up of units each representing a small step of learning. This allows the qualification to be completed at your own pace.
All of the units can be ‘banked’ which means that if you would like to take another qualification which includes the same units you do not have to take them again.
Each unit has a level which shows how difficult that unit is along with a credit value, unit aim, learning outcome and assessment criteria.

This qualification provides an ideal taster for learners who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners from the age of fourteen who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.

Duty of care
Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification. To achieve this qualification, learners must complete all 9 mandatory units, gaining them a total of 20 credits.
